If you have not taken your business online, you are not in a good place, honestly. The online population is growing very fast, and you have to keep up, or else you will be left using square wheels while everyone is using round wheels.
When you need to find a solution to something, what do you do? You Google! There is information about basically anything online. Content is the new currency. Content builds connection and humans crave for connection and information.
The internet is made to create equal opportunity for everyone; all you have to do is utilize it. On the internet, anyone can create information and inform others about something. Opportunity has been spread to everyone, at little cost that before. You have to take your business there, or face the threat of closing doors when all your competitors are online and your loyal customers move with them.
The internet connection creates time freedom, unlimited potential for income. If you have a website, it will promote you 24 hours, 7 days a week, even in your sleep. No employee can do that, no matter how dedicated they are, not even yourself, you need sleep and other non-work related activities.
Here are facts on why you need to grow your business online. In 2009, there were 6billion people on earth, in 2010, there were 7billion people. In 2020, it is estimated that there will be 7.8 billion people on earth. In 2006, 6% of the people were online, in 2010, 23% of the population was online, in 2020, 68% of the world will be online. Between 2010 and 2020, the online population has increased by 3billion people.
The increase of mobile devices, and hence the use of mobile phones as the source of internet is increasing very fast. Customers are using more of mobile devices Africa. Research shows that it was estimated that there would be 635million mobile phone subscribers by the end of 2014 and this will have risen to about 930 million in 2019 in Africa.
Did you know that 70% of internet users access the internet via mobile devices as compared to 6% who use desktop computers? Internet use in mobile phones is expected to in 20 fold in the next five years in Africa, double the rate of growth in the rest of the world.
If you intend to have your business thriving in the next 5 years, it is time to build an online brand. Online presence will help you build your brand into a reputable one on the internet. It will also help you get to a wider reach of customers, especially those not in your geographical region.
The widest population in Kenya is the youth, who are using the internet more than the older generation. The older generation will phase out from your customer base and what you will be left with are the younger generation, who use internet to get information. Going online will help you not stay out of touch when this happens.
Online branding also has more effective and faster reputation management system. It will help you manage your customers will, respond faster and know what they need.
